It has been a joy to work in publishing for over twenty years. I've held roles in bookselling, marketing, publicity, agency work, and editorial. I love being part of the process that conceives an idea, refines the story or argument, and gets it into readers' hands. Currently, I serve as associate editor at Verily, copy editor at Into the Deep, and editorial support at The Colosseum.
I have (co-)written three books: God's Little Flowers (OSV Kids, 2025), The Road to Hope: Responding to the Crisis of Addiction (Our Sunday Visitor, 2023), and Don’t Forget to Say Thank You: And Other Parenting Lessons That Brought Me Closer to God (Ave Maria Press, 2018).
I've contributed to a handful more: Called by Name: 365 Daily Devotions for Catholic Women, All God's Creatures: 60 Days of Devotions for Animal-Loving Kids, Sisterhood: Giving and Receiving the Gift of Friendship, and Soul Garden: A Catholic Mother's Collective.
I also regularly contribute to Verily, CatholicMom.com, and WINE. My non-fiction work has been published at America, Word on Fire, Aleteia, Radiant, Blessed Is She, Vigil, Brother Francis, Natural Womanhood, Catholic Women Run, Our American Stories, Telos Art Shop, Brick House in the City, The Federalist, and Soul Gardening.
My short stories have been published as follows:
"We Come Here to Live,” Ever Eden, Summer 2019
“Cheers to Fifty Years," Ever Eden, Fall 2019
“Big Girl, New Digs,” Ruah Storytellers, December 18, 2019

Easily one of the most important books I've ever worked on. Since its release, my co-author, Keaton Douglas, and I have witnessed its being a game-changer in the field of addiction and recovery as well as in the body of the Church.
Addiction affects us all in one way or another, and so we are all called to find our place in being part of the solution--that solution being the extension of Christ's love toward those we might have once considered "other." In this way, responding to the societal malady of addiction is a means of twenty-first century evangelization, or better, welcoming people home.

If there's anything I've learned in my vocation as a mother, it's that being a mom does not negate my being a child of God. When I started to reimagine the phrases I said to my kids over and over (and over) each day as words from God my Father to me, His beloved daughter, I joyfully rediscovered my true identity. Each (short!) chapter examines one of these phrases, ending with reflection questions, a prayer, and a saint to call on for further intercession. A great solo read and an excellent selection for a book club!
"An inspiration and a challenge to all of us. A gift."
--From the foreword by Danielle Bean
"Every mom needs the voice of reason and sanity, but we also need someone to point us to God and his generosity. Lindsay Schlegel beautifully combines a deep devotion and realistic humor in this book. You'll feel like she's sitting beside you with coffee (or maybe a beer) even as you want to take notes in the margin. Enjoy this book. And then share it with a friend or three."
--Sarah A. Reinhard, coeditor of The Catholic Mom's Prayer Companion and blogger at SnoringScholar.com
"Don't Forget to Say Thank You is a must-have for parents that beautifully and sometimes humorously reveals the many opportunities we have to grow in holiness in the parenting trenches. Schlegel's down-to-earth stories and wisdom reveal the valuable lessons our children impart upon us in between cups of reheated coffee and our constant reminders to our children to be nice, to please go to bed (now!), and to say you're sorry. Find encouragement, a new perspective, and renewed strength in your parenting life with this gem of a book."
