The other day, I felt my friend’s not-yet-born baby kick.  It was the first time I’d felt a baby in utero that wasn’t my own–and it was awesome.  I just about cried. There’s something incredibly special about feeling a little life we can’t yet see.

I thought that after Jacob was born, his kicking was going to be much less impressive: as he learned to smile, grab, and sit up, kicks just wouldn’t be such a big deal anymore.  While to be sure, I don’t call John over every time Jacob kicks now, there is something differently exciting about watching our little boy move how and where he wants to.  And trust me, he never stops moving.  Even if he’s in the stroller, he’s kick-kick-kicking his feet, which convinces me yet again that he is perhaps the happiest little boy in the world.

And that makes me the happiest mommy in the world.
